EIU’s Doudna Fine Arts Center offers an array of events in November

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University’s Doudna Fine Arts Center will host several musical and theatre performances throughout the month of November. Some highlights include The Vienna Boys Choir and performances of the beloved Victorian play The Secret Garden.

Thursday, November 14

  • 7:30 p.m.—The Vienna Boys Choir
    Dvorak Concert Hall
    $20 – General Admission
    $15 – EIU Employees/Seniors
    $10 – Students
    The Vienna Boys Choir consists of 100 boys between the ages of 10 and 14, from dozens of nations, divided into four touring groups. Each group spends nine to 11 weeks of the school year on tour. Between them, the four choirs give 300 performances each year to nearly half a million people. They visit virtually all European countries, and are frequent guests in Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

  • 7:30 p.m.—The Secret Garden
    The Theatre

    $10 – Students
    This beloved Victorian classic by author Frances Hodgson Burnett comes to life through this beautifully haunting score by Lucy Simon and book by Marsha Norman. Mary Lennox, losing her parents due to a plague in India, moves to a secluded British manor to live with her uncle Archibald Craven and his sickly son Colin. The manor, haunted by spirits and guilt, lives in the shadows of the past and the cries of the present. Mary, with the help of her new friends Martha, Dickon, Ben, and a key to a garden, begins to unlock the secrets of the house, helping all things grow. Winner of 3 Tony and 4 Drama Desk awards.

Tuesday, November 19

  • 7:30 p.m.—Concert Band & Eastern Symphonic Band Concert
