Eastern Illinois University's WEIU will host WEIU Kids Day at the Castle from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 8 on the university's front lawn, located at 600 Lincoln Avenue, Charleston, IL
WEIU, a PBS affiliate station, will showcase PBS Kids character Daniel Tiger as the main character attraction at this year's event. Nearly 2,000 community members attend this free event annually. Eastern Illinois University Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteerism will co-host the event, with approximately 50 EIU students assisting participants and attendees.
Activities will include arts and crafts, princess wand and knight shield construction, face painting, bounce houses, a live Hit-Mix 88.9 WEIU broadcast, and children's dance contests.
Funding for Kids Day was made possible by First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Central Illinois, City of Charleston Tourism, EIU Office of Civic Engagement & Volunteerism, Coles County Sanitation & Recycling, Coles County Transportation, Lanman Oil, Combs Chiropractic, Mangy Mousse, Clarence Miller Insurance, Wood Rentals, Unique Suites/Brickhouse Bar & Grill, All American Realty, Mack Moore Shoes, Charleston Appliance, Bob's Bookstore, McDonald's, and Carle.
