The Trans*formation Station is a unique service that we offer to our transgender and non-binary students at Eastern Illinois University. We provide our students with a confidential and safe way to get clothing and accessories that align with their gender identity or express for free.
The Trans*formation Station was started as a project in 2014 through the combined efforts of Jo Stauder, Ben Wilburn, and EIU PRIDE. Jo and Ben wrote a grant for funding through WST, and it was approved. The Trans*formation Station has always been located inside the GSD and started in a space in the Cultural Center and moved with the GSD center when they moved to the lower level of Stevenson Hall in Summer 2017.
We offer pants, shorts, polos, dress shirts, and dresses. We also have a wide assortment of accessories such as necklaces and bracelets.
We also offer tampons, menstrual pads, and deodorant as well.
All clothing, shoes, handbags, purses, make up, costume jewelry, tampons, menstrual pads, and deodorant is available completely for FREE whenever the GSD center is open.
All services offered in connection with the Trans*formation Station are confidential for EIU students, with no questions asked.
We accept donations of clothing that is clean, and stain free and in style. You can contact the email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a time to drop off items for donation, or for the potential for us to pick up items.
All donations are tax deductible. Contact the GSD Center for a receipt.
