Student learning in our department is not just a passive engagement. We encourage our students to learn by doing, and believe that produces the best results. While traditional methods of course delivery continue to be applicable and appropriate, we believe that student-active learning techniques promote deep engagement as students manipulate, assess, test, think critically, and move. While enhancing student learning, these opportunities also have a side benefit: they are fun! For more information on internships, click here.

Hands on

Student Involvement

KSR students are encouraged to get involved in various organizations. A good place to start is the KSR Club. This club houses the Exercise Science Club, Sport Management Club, and Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) Club. Our students are also active in professional organizations, conferences, volunteer activities, and research studies. The networks that our students develop throughout our program will benefit them for future success. Please click here for more information regarding the departmental clubs.

KSR students and faculty are actively engaged in a variety of research activities. Our students may have the opportunity to assist faculty with research projects or choose to complete independent research utilizing faculty in an advisor role. Some projects may include working in the Exercise Physiology Lab to assess body composition using the Bod Pod or testing different methods of training on muscle development. Other research may include, but is not limited to, measuring VO2max or assessing vertical jump using the Vertimax.
