Principal Endorsement Program (PEP)

Principal Endorsement Program is designed for those educators wanting to pursue leadership roles as an assistant principal or principal.  After successful completion of at least 12 hours in the Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership program, students may apply for admission into our PEP program.  The Principal Endorsement Program requires, in addition to the master's program, successful completion of an additional nine (9) semester hours of coursework over the course of a year.

The required coursework is as follows ...

• EDL 5630 - The Principalship (3 hrs.)
• EDL 5891 - Practicum in Educational Leadership (2)
• EDL 5892 - Practicum in Educational Leadership (2)
• EDL 5893 - Practicum in Educational Leadership (2)

In addition to completion of all required coursework, the candidate must meet the full-time teaching experience requirements provided by ISBE and successfully complete the Illinois Principal Exams & Administrator Academy requirements for certification. .
