ONLINE Degree Completion Program: Communication in Organizations

Program Description:

Communication in Organizations is a new option under the B.A. degree in Communication Studies.

This online degree option will help students enhance their marketability in today's professional environment through the integration of theory and practice and the development of relational and organizational communication skills. Individuals who are proficient communicators are more valuable in contemporary organizations that are increasingly global, team-based, and feature flatter hierarchical structure.

The 49 credit hour option offers courses in a variety of areas including organizational communication, interpersonal communication, conflict management, intercultural communication, communication and professional development, and workplace relationships.

Graduation Requirements:

In addition to completing requirements for the major, students will also need to complete EIU's graduation requirements:

  • 40 hours of General Education courework including the Foreign Language requirement (complete two courses in a single foreign language) and senior seminar or a study abroad capstone.
  • 40 hours of upper-division credit (3000-4000 numbered courses).
  • Minimum GPA of 2.00 in the major.
  • 120 hours with a CGPA of 2.00 in all courses attempted.
  • 42 semester hours in residence with a minimum of 32 in the junior and senior years, 12 of which must be in residence during the senior year.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Writing Portfolio (EWP) (three submissions).
