Engaging the field

There are a number of professional and scholarly organizations associated
with the field of communication.  Faculty and graduate students in the Department
of Communication Studies at EIU are engaged with many of these organizations,
whether by attending annual conferences, presenting original research, discovering
teaching strategies and techniques, or connecting with professionals and scholars
with similar interests.  These organizations exist to serve scholars, teachers, and
professionals in multiple ways and graduate students can use them to identify
opportunities to present their research or connect with professionals from around
the country and even the world.  The list of organizations found below, while far from
exhaustive, identifies communication organizations that graduate students have found
valuable during their studies at EIU.
