Ordering an EIU transcript, receipt of the diploma, and participation in commencement
EIU transcripts
When a student has completed his/her degree, he/she can request an EIU transcript from the Eastern Records Office. See this site for instructions for ordering a transcript and the cost involved http://www.eiu.edu/~registra/transcript.php. If you are ordering it before or soon after your final semester at Eastern, be sure to specify that you do not wish to have the transcript mailed to you until your degree has been posted.
Diploma
Diplomas normally take at least 6-8 weeks from the close of the semester to be processed. After completion of your degree, if you have not received your diploma in the mail after the 6-8 week period, you may contact the Office of Registrar to inquire. Their phone number is 217-581-3511. You must have a clear record in order to receive a diploma or transcript.
Participation in the commencement ceremony
Eastern has a commencement ceremony at the end of the spring and fall semesters. Summer graduates are invited to march in the following December ceremony. If you would like to participate in commencement, early in the term of your ceremony (February for the spring term and October for the fall term), visit the commencement website at www.eiu.edu/~commence for information on how or order cap and gown, pick up guest tickets, etc. Although participation in commencement is not obligatory, we highly recommend that our graduates celebrate the achievement of their degree!
