Be prepared for your appointment

Bring a copy of the 4-year degree plan and updated advising checklist provided below, and a list of the courses you plan to add to your schedule. Review your online degree audit (PAWS-Degree Works) and be aware of the remaining requirements/courses for your program. Students should become familiar with the online degree audit available through their PAWS account. The online degree audit will also show which requirements for your major have been documented, and which requirements remain, as steps for progression into professional coursework. Schedule Planner is available on PAWS to help students find class times that best fit into their busy schedules, go to https://www.eiu.edu/scheduleplanner/. Please visit your PAWS account and click on the Student Records tab to view your assigned advisor.

Can I call or email with a "quick question"?

Absolutely. However, quick questions often lead to lengthy conversations with reference to documents and/or course requirements. Since our departmental undergraduate advisors are available during the spring and fall terms, please make an effort to meet by appointment during that time for the most accurate and comprehensive exchange of information. During the summer, additional assistance can be made by the chair of the department. You may email your advisor with your name, E#, and questions at:

Your advisor will assist you with understanding your catalog and curriculum requirements by using a checklist. Feel free to ask your advisor any questions during your advisement appointment. Printable catalog and curriculum requirement blank copies are available below.  Our department advisors will be happy to help guide you in your academic goals in Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminology!
