PMB - Preseason Camp
We are super excited about the fall 2023 season! As of right now it looks like we will have somewhere between 100-120 members - the largest marching band at EIU in the last 7-8 years! Below is some information to help you get ready for the upcoming season.
Important Reminders:
- E-Mail Communication: Please start using your EIU e-mail for all PMB-related questions. Email David G. Boggs at dgboggs@eiu.edu.
- Band App: The Band App is our primary mode of daily communication. It is very user friendly and allows us to share rehearsal schedules, get member opinions and chat individually. You will receive an invitation via text or e-mail by mid-July. Please make certain you turn on notifications so that you stay in the loop on a daily basis.
- Register for PMB: If you are planning on participating in the PMB fall semester (and I hope ALL of you are!) please remember to register for PMB ASAP (MUS 0202R or MUS 0202X). Remember that, once you have taken PMB FOR CREDIT for a full semester, then you have the option of taking PMB for NO credit (MUS 0202X) or FOR credit (MUS 0202R).

2023 Preseason Camp Schedule
ALL PMB MEMBERS! (here is the general info - detailed info will be added below)
- Saturday, August 12, 2023 – Leadership Move-in / Training Day
- Section Leaders will move-in on Saturday, August 12, 2023
- Sunday, August 13, 2023 – Full PMB Move-in / First Day of Camp
- All non-leadership PMB members will move-in on Sunday, August 13, 2023 into their Residence Hall Room
- There will be a full PMB meeting with students and parents at 4:00 PM
- Dinner will be on your own.
- 6:30 PM - First rehearsal!
- Monday-Wednesday, August 14-16, 2023 – PMB Camp – 9:00 am – 9:00 pm
- Thursday, August 17 – PMB Camp / Convocation! – Schedule TBD
- Friday, August 18 – Rehearsals TBD / Media Night!
- Saturday, August 19 – PMB Member photos - 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Sunday, August 20 – First Night Performance! – 7:00-9:00 pm
2023 Detailed Pre-Season Camp Schedule
Fall 2023 Tentative Schedule (as of June 15, 2023)
- Saturday, September 16 – Home Football vs Illinois State University – Mass Band Day
- 9:00 am rehearsal & 2:00 pm kickoff
- Saturday, September 23 – Home Football vs McNeese State – Fall Family Weekend
- 9:00 am rehearsal & 2:00 pm kickoff
- Friday, September 29 – Evening PMB Rehearsal (we would swap the afternoon time): 7:00-9:00 pm
- Saturday, September 30 – Panther Marching Band Festival
- Friday, October 6 – EIU Homecoming Activities
- Time and Activities TBD but regular rehearsal and then at least one Friday night performance
- Saturday, October 7 – Home Football vs. UT Martin – Homecoming!
- Early rehearsal for the parade & 2:00 pm kickoff
- Friday, October 20 – EIU Fall Break BUUUUTTTT –
- PMB Rehearsal from 4:00-5:50 pm
- Saturday, October 21 – Home Football vs. Bryant University
- 9:00 am rehearsal & 2:00 pm kickoff
- Sunday, October 22 – PMB Live in Concert
- 2:00 pm, Dvorak Concert Hall
- Saturday, November 11 – PMB Home vs Tennessee State University – Member for a Day
- 8:00 am rehearsal – Noon kickoff
- Basketball Games (PMB splits into two groups for most fall basketball games) - Days and Times are TBD
Uniforms
- EIU will supply the standard PMB uniform for all members. Uniform cleaning fees are included in the PMB course fee.
- We will also supply two PMB T-shirts and a PMB cap.
- Please fill out the PMB Uniform Measurement Form by July 15 so that we can begin the preliminary ordering process and start the sizing process. Thanks!

Announcements
Camp is not that far off! Make sure you are taking time to do the following things this summer in order to be prepared:
- Drink lots of water.
- Get exercise!
- Try to get outside during a warmer part of the day, even for 10-15 minutes to help your body prepare for late August heat.
- HYDRATE!
- Download music and get practicing, especially on the warm-ups.
- What parts do you prepare for camp? Good question. The best advice I have for you is to print off all parts for each song and prepare the one that you feel most comfortable in performing. Not everyone can be 1st trumpet (or whatever other section)! We want great players on all parts.
