Eastern Illinois University is partnering with local school districts to introduce a pioneering program aimed at reversing the rising trend of high school students not pursuing college and those who leave the state for higher education. Last year, EIU admitted one in four students who did not attend college, and of those who did, half left the state for their studies. Through this initiative, our goal is to provide a fresh perspective on higher education and increase awareness of EIU’s support programs for college-bound students from an early stage.

How it Works
A memorandum of understanding is drafted and signed between the Regional Office of Education and Eastern Illinois University, formalizing their partnership. Schools under the jurisdiction of the ROE will furnish a roster of directory information for all students maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher, unless they have opted out, upon completion of their fifth semester.
This data will be conveyed using an Excel template containing essential details such as mailing address, school email, and phone number. Upon receipt of these lists at directadmission@eiu.edu, EIU will promptly reach out to identified students, extending direct admission offers and outlining the services and benefits available through EIU’s direct admission program.
