Our goal is to provide our students and scholars with services and spaces to make their academic pursuits engaging, productive, and enjoyable. We emphasize responsiveness to our patrons. We also strive to continually identify and develop services and spaces related to library innovation. Library Services will actively pursue opportunities for enhancing or transforming existing library spaces and develop new services and programs essential to the success of our academic community.
The CSI is located on the lower level of Booth Library, on the east side of the atrium (at the bottom of the stairs when crossing the bridge). Booth Library has opened two Technology Checkout Stations on the EIU campus: at the library's Center for Student Innovation and in the lower level of Thomas Hall. During the fall semester of 2021, the CSI in Booth Library is open from 2-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and from 2-4:45 p.m. Friday through Dec. 17. During Thanksgiving Break, the CSI will be open from 2-4:45 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 22-23 (closed the rest of the week). The satellite location in Thomas Hall, located in the lower level near the vending machines, is open from 4-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday through Dec. 16. This location will be closed during Thanksgiving Break. For the spring semester, the Booth CSI will reopen on Sunday, Jan. 9. The Thomas Hall location will reopen on Monday, Jan. 10.
Technology Checkout Stations provide laptop computers, webcams and other technology to students, who may check out needed equipment with their Panther Card for a limited time period. All patrons must sign an agreement certifying they take responsibility for the item(s) and their safe and timely return. Library patrons are charged a monetary fee for overdue items and a replacement cost for lost, stolen, or damaged library materials. Your official academic records will be withheld until all fines have been resolved through Circulation Services.

An Active Learning Classroom (ALC) and Design Lab will serve as a central space for supporting the digital and technological infrastructure at the heart of the Innovation Center. The ALC combines flexible furniture, mobile technology, and innovative teaching and learning programming. Use of the ALC encourages collaborations with partners across campus in all colleges. Library patrons who would like access to equipment in the Design Lab should make an appointment with one of our staff members.
