EIU’s College of Education continues to make Statewide impact

(Charleston, IL) – Eastern Illinois University’s College of Education (COE) is making positive waves throughout the Land of Lincoln by preparing more than 500 alumni to thrive in educational administrative roles across the State of Illinois.
In total, EIU leaders recently learned that 511 active Educational Leadership alumni are using their EIU degrees and industry knowledge to serve as educational administrators in various roles across the State in academic year 2023-24.
“The contributions our graduates make to schools and school districts at the local, regional, and State levels are a point of pride for EIU’s College of Education,” said Dr. Laretta Henderson, College dean. “More importantly, these EIU professionals are responding to the broader needs of Illinois by reinforcing our State’s critical K-12 infrastructure and mission.”
Dean Henderson recognized the Department of Educational Leadership for this accomplishment with an award that was presented to COE’s Chair of Educational Leadership Dr. Cliff Karnes, at a recent COE fundraiser.
EIU’s Department of Educational Leadership's mission is to prepare quality candidates to serve as superintendents, principals, and teacher leaders. Eastern’s M.S. Ed. and Ed.S. programs actively engage students in courses that focus on the essential elements of leadership necessary for successfully guiding the effective and efficient operation of our schools.
