Share Your Good News
Help us share the good news about Eastern Illinois University! There are numerous ways we can publicize your good news, whether it's a special event, an outstanding accomplishment or an ongoing project.
The more information and story ideas we receive, the more publicity we can generate about university activities, programs and services.
Information submitted to University Marketing and Communications will be reviewed by our staff, which will choose the appropriate venue(s) for distribution (press releases, newsletters, etc.).
Submit an item to the University Newsletter to help spread the word to the campus community.
You can submit an event to be included in the university-wide calendar. Selected items will appear on the main page of EIU's Web site.
'Rotation' items for the main sections of www.eiu.edu |
Rotations appear at the top of the several pages, including Future Students, Current Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni & Friends, and Parents. If you have news you'd like to get out to any of these groups, please send us an e-mail. We'll be happy to add your event/news as appropriate.
Get the word out about the events you are planning. Fill out the Event Publicity Form to give us the information we need to publicize your event as appropriate.
The media run stories that fit one or more of these criteria:
• new and timely
• a current hot topic
• interesting to the public
• applicable to readers’ lives
• submitted with sufficient lead time
If you department/office is doing anything that might be considered newsworthy, please let us know! If you’re not sure, go ahead and send it to us.
Our office will review the information you submit on the Story Idea Form and then choose the appropriate venues for distribution. In some cases, we may write a press release; in others, we may include it in our list of story ideas that the media might be interested in. Other options include running the item in various publications (presidential newsletter, alumni magazine, etc.) or any of the other venues listed on this page.
Hometown News Release Form |
Faculty, staff and students are asked to let us know about their accomplishments (awards, honors, etc.) so we can inform the media, including their local newspapers. You can find the appropriate forms here.
If your department or organization is honoring several people at once, we prefer that you collect all forms and submit them to us as a group.
