Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (URSCA) Committee
Mission
The mission of the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (URSCA) Committee is to provide a model of leadership and to encourage the highest standards of academic research among undergraduates on campus. This Committee will monitor and support undergraduate research activities and assure that professional standards are maintained. It is the responsibility of this body to advise and counsel the Dean of the Honors College and to be advocates for undergraduate research on campus.
Terms
Members of the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity (URSCA) Committee serve one (1) year terms. Appointments are made in the fall. Terms are for that academic year. Three (3) members are appointed by the Honors Council. One (1) must be a student appointed by the Dean of the Honors College. Three (3) members are appointed by the Council on Faculty Research (CFR). The Dean of the Honors College acts as chair, and is an ex officio member of the committee.
Duties and Responsibilities
Determine the criteria for eligibility and selection of undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity proposals;
Review all proposals for Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity and make recommendations for awards and stipends;
Evaluate and advise the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity program periodically;
Approve any changes in the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity program; and
Address campus-wide issues relating to undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity such as Showcase EIU.
