Physics Department Scholarships

• Dr. William Butler Physics Scholarship
  • Applicant may be a high school senior accepted to EIU or EIU freshman or sophomore majoring in Physics.
• Christos & Theodora Efstathiou Scholarship
  • Awarded to the Physics Major with the highest Physics GPA at completion of his/her first year of study.
• Jesusa Valdez Kinderman Scholarship
  • Preference is given to a minority or female Physics major, but not the sole deciding factor.
• Glenn Lefler Physics Scholarship
  • Applicant must be an EIU junior or senior majoring in Physics.
• Michael A. Scott Memorial Fund
  • Applicant must be an EIU junior or senior majoring in Physics.
• Irvin L. Sparks Memorial Scholarship
  • Applicant may be a high school senior or an EIU freshman or sophomore majoring in Physics.
• Dr. Henry A. Taitt Physics Scholarship
  • Applicant must be majoring in Science with Teacher Certification, Physics Specialization.
• S.L. Nanda Mathematics and Science Scholarship
  • Applicant must be a Charleston High School graduate majoring in Biological Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Computer Sciences or any of the aforementioned majors with teacher certification.

Physics Department Prize

• Robert C. Waddell and Leyla Peck Waddell Prize
  • This prize is awarded to the Physics major with the highest grade point average entering his or her junior year.
