Required Math Placement Information

Eastern offers two avenues for initial math placement. Each option is briefly discussed below. Additonal information, as well as a mathematics general education course flowchart, can be accessed in the Math Placement Guidelines document. Be sure to allow enough time for placement so as not to miss course registration deadlines.

Placement by ACT/SAT Math Score

If you have taken and have on file at Eastern an ACT or SAT math score, then your inital math class placement can be determined by this score. Should you for whatever reason not be satisfied with your placement based ont hse scores, you can use ALEKS placement instead.

Placement by ALEKS

Initial math placement by ALEKS is required if not using ACT/SAT math scores. Incoming freshman should have recevied an email or letter with placement information. Continuing and transfer students who need math placement should contact their advisor to initate the placement process. ALEKS is provided at no cost for students.

Be sure to downoad the Math Placement Guidelines document for specific details regarding placement scores and course needs.
