Don Holly is Professor of Anthropology at Eastern Illinois University. His research focuses broadly on hunters and gatherers, but he has a special interest in the archaeology, history, and history of scholarship of the indigenous peoples of the eastern Subarctic of North America. He is the author of History in the Making: the Archaeology of the Eastern Subarctic (AltaMira, 2013), co-editor, with Kenneth Sassaman, of Hunter-Gatherer Archaeology as Historical Process (Arizona, 2011), and of numerous articles and book chapters, including most recently, “Toward a Social Archaeology of Food for Hunters & Gatherers in Marginal Environments: A Case Study from the Eastern Subarctic of North America” in the Journal of Archaeological Method and Theory (2019) and "The Struggle was Real: On the End of the Archaic on the Island of Newfoundland and Labrador" (with Chris Wolff and Steve Hull) in The Far Northeast: 3000 BP to Contact, edited by Kenneth R. Holyoke and M. Gabriel Hrynick (2022).
