Flexible, Rigorous, Affordable

Students enrolled in the MA program in Political Science have two options, both taught by full-time Political Science faculty, committed to building relationships with students to develop their research and writing skills:

  • The MA in Political Science offers a mostly face-to-face program focusing on American Politics, International Relations/Comparative Politics, Political Theory and Public Law. This option is ideal for students who want eventually seek to earn a Ph.D. or J.D. Also, this option is ideal for students seeking employment in community college teaching, federal government jobs, international relations, campaigns and lobbying, and a wide range of research and government careers.
  • The MA in Political Science with the Option in Public Administration and Public Policy offers an all on-line program focusing on Public Administration, Public Policy, and Nonprofits. Students in this program seek employment in state/local/regional government agencies, nonprofit agencies, public policy research, private sector government relations, protective services administration, and related career fields.
  • Students in each option take courses in the other option, strengthening skills, and building flexibility in career options. For instance, Public Administration/Public Policy students can take an International Relations course to add a global dimension to their administrative skills.
  • Both options can be completed in 2-3 semesters and one summer for full-time students, and 2-3 years for most part-time students.
  • Competitive graduate assistantships and scholarships are available.
