Over the past 10 years, on average, more than 40% of EIU Political Science majors attend graduate school or law school, expanding their skills, career opportunities, and professional networks.

All our students receive mentoring to help them select a graduate school or law school that works for them. We encourage students to connect with our Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Jeff Ashley and our Pre-Law Advisor, Dr. Karen Swenson, early in their college careers. Faculty mentors will help students by recommending where to apply, how to seek funding, and writing letters of recommendation.

We offer an accelerated graduate program to qualified juniors and seniors, allowing students to earn their MA in Political Science or the MA in Political Science with the Public Administration/Public Policy option in just 1 additional year (2 semesters and a summer) after earning their BA.
