Subject: Course Proposals for Academy of Lifelong Learning
Dear EIU Faculty and Staff members,
The School of Continuing Education's Academy of Lifetime Learning staff has begun our program planning for Fall 2013. We are looking for workshops and courses to provide our membership. The Academy has over 1100 members and they have indicated that their primary areas of interest are current events, arts and humanities, health and history. A few of the popular courses have been on writing, world wars, the Civil War, painting, and international relations. Our members enjoy interactive courses and new experiences. There is no homework or research paper for you to grade, just a satisfying experience sharing your knowledge and interacting with bright, curious and informed adults.
Your expertise is valuable! Whether it is knowledge you have gained through education, experience or through personal interest, we need you to share it. Consider what you enjoy speaking about and submit a proposal to share your knowledge and interest using the linked form. We are asking if you would be willing to share your expertise in either a 1.5 hour workshop format or in a course format which consists of 3-4, 1.5 hour sessions. We also ask that the instructors participate in the Program Showcase in September where we will have tables set for you to introduce your topic to entice interested people to attend. You will receive 60% of the proceeds from your class for your service.
Your proposal will be reviewed by the Academy Curriculum Committee based on these criteria:
- Fit within subject areas requested by members (as outlined above)
- Complete information
- Expertise of instructor in the subject area
