The Charleston Police Department has released the following information.

PRESS RELEASE

DATE: January 26, 2013

TYPE OF INCIDENT: Fight//Shots Fired

LOCATION: 1419 4^th Street, Penalty Box Restaurant

At 0334 hrs on January 26^th, officers of the Charleston Police Department responded to the Penalty Box at 1419^th 4^th Street in response to a large fight that was in progress where gunshots had been fired. Officers learned this was a large gathering of Eastern Illinois University students patronizing the Penalty Box which turned into a fight. During the course of the investigation, officers arrested Eastern Illinois University student Dionte V. McWillis for aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct. The person or persons responsible for firing the shots remains under investigation.

Two vehicles at the scene sustained damage from gunshots, but nobody was reported to have been injured. This incident is under investigation by the Charleston Police and the Eastern Illinois University Police Departments.
