Subject: WebCT & Desire2Learn - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Hello Everyone:
During the transition from WebCT to Desire2Learn (D2L) as our learning management system, please NOTE the following:
- Both WebCT and Desire2Learn will be available for use with Fall classes.
- Faculty will need to notify students of which system is being used for each class.
- The login pages for both WebCT and Desire2Learn will be linked on the new EIU homepage, http://www.eiu.edu, in the top, right corner.
- The Desire2Learn link will be titled, EIU Online (D2L), and the direct URL is http://www.eiu.edu/eiuonline.
- The WEBCT URL is changing: The new URL for WebCT is http://webct.eiu.edu. If you previously had the WebCT login page bookmarked you will need to update your bookmark.
- Most students will need to reset their EIU password in order to access D2L the first time. More information and directions can be found on the EIU Online (D2L) login page, http://www.eiu.edu/eiuonline.
- If using D2L for Fall, faculty will need to activate each course when ready to make it available to students. Directions will be posted on the login page.
- Fall classes will be available to faculty in D2L soon. A separate announcement will be made when classes are available and users can access the D2L system.
- When going to Desire2Learn or WebCT, you may encounter a popup warning stating the site you are going to may not be secure. We are aware of this and the popups will eventually stop showing up. In the meantime, read through the message and follow the prompts to allow your browser to get to the site.
