Subject: Action Required: Student Transition from Duo to MS MFA - May 13th
Dear EIU Students,
On May 13th, EIU will begin transitioning all students from Duo Multi-Factor Authentication (Duo) to Microsoft Multi-Factor Authentication (Microsoft MFA).
The setup takes about 15 minutes and must be completed on your next EIU login. If you're near Charleston and need help, we recommend stopping by the Help Desk in person.
Microsoft MFA is included in EIU's existing license, which lowers costs and helps us maintain services without increasing student fees.
What This Means for You
Starting Wednesday, May 13, when you sign into Panthermail, you will be prompted to enroll in Microsoft MFA.
Please download the Microsoft Authenticator app to complete enrollment. Do not use the Outlook app for MFA — it is not supported for this purpose.
If you cannot install the Microsoft Authenticator app on a supported device (such as a smartphone), you will need to use a YubiKey. Please contact the Help Desk so we can prepare one for you.
