Subject: University Network Identity Life-cycle Policy
Please familiarize yourself with the University network identity life-cycle policy to understand when your EIU account (NetID) will expire when departing from EIU.
Graduated students (Alumni):
Undergraduate – 1 year from the end of graduation term
Graduate – 1 year from the end of graduation term
Inactive students (Status determine by the admitting agency):
Undergraduate and Continuing Education – 1 year from the end of the last term attending classes
Graduate – 6 years from the end of the first term registered for graduate classes
Dismissed Students (Academic or other):
Undergraduate and Continuing Education – 1 year from the end of dismissal term
Graduate – 1 year from the end of dismissal term
Remember, services such as social media accounts, external email, music services, and web storefronts may attempt to email your EIU account. Verify that your EIU email is not part of the account or password recovery process. Please update any service contact information before you depart from EIU.
