Subject: grad student seeking research study participants

Hello graduate students,

My name is Emilee Kruchten and I’m working with Dr. Mace (Psychology Department) on a project on involuntary memories. We are looking for participants to complete our survey on involuntary memories.

First, we want to define involuntary memories. Involuntary memories are memories of your personal past (events of your life) that come to mind without your intending to remember them. For example, someone saying the words, let’s go get sushi tonight could trigger a memory of the first time you eat sushi in a restaurant. Involuntary memories can be experienced several times per day, and they can pertain to any period of time in your life (i.e., yesterday, last week, last year, ten years ago, etc.).

If you are interested in participating in this study, you will be given a questionnaire, which you are to fill out once you have your first involuntary memory. The questionnaire will ask you to describe your involuntary memory, as well as answer a few basic questions about it (e.g., how old are you in the memory, what were you doing with the memory can to mind). The questionnaire will not ask you for identifying information on yourself, only simple demographic details (i.e., age and gender). Therefore, the data from this study in no way could be linked to your identity. The questionnaire should only take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete, and you will receive $1.00 for your participation.

If you are interested, contact Dr. Mace’s lab at:

Thank you for your time and consideration. Stay safe and well.
