Subject: Reminder: EIU Student Password Policy Change

All students will soon be required to change their EIU password on an annual basis (no less than one time per year).  Information about this policy change can be found at http://www.eiu.edu/its/security/policies/ITS_Authentication_Policy_V1_5.pdf . When the policy takes effect, you will receive notifications beginning 20 days prior to your password expiring.

In order to assist in keeping your password current, EIU provides an online Password Management Tool.  Enrolling in the tool allows you to utilize self-reset capabilities such as security questions, alternative emails, and registered mobile devices.

To enroll, please visit https://password.eiu.edu and login with your current EIU NetID and password, go to the “Enrollment” tab and register in the “Security Questions” and “Verification Code” sections.  Information about the Password Management Tool can be found at http://www.eiu.edu/its/helpdesk/pmt/pmtinfo.php .

Enrolling now will make it easier in the future as the new policy is implemented and in instances where you might have forgotten your password.
