Subject: E-BILLING BEGINS MAY 2010

Beginning May 2010 student bills for current students will be delivered electronically. You (the student) will receive an e-mail at your EIU E-MAIL ADDRESS notifying you that a new statement has been issued. Statements are issued around the first of each month. For security purposes we do not send the statement as an e-mail attachment.

When you receive the notice sign on to PAWS and select Student, then Student Account, then Statement and Payment History. Your electronic statement will look just like your current paper bill. You can access your statement as often as you like and you are free to print it or e-mail it to whomever you choose. Please be sure to note the due date on the statement. Just like your paper bill, this is the date payment must be received in order to avoid a finance charge.

It is important to understand the definition of a current student in relation to billing statements. You are considered a current student for the term shown on the bill if you have had any registration activity for that term. The following schedule should help to clarify this. You are considered to be a current student and will receive an electronic bill during the months of May, June and/or July if you have had any registration activity for the summer term. If you have registration activity for a fall term statements issued to you from August through November will be electronic. Registration activity for a spring term will create electronic statements for the months December through April. You may not always be a current student for billing purposes. For example, if you have a balance due for the spring term and are not registered for the summer term, you will receive a paper statement in May.

We hope that you will find electronic billing as convenient and efficient as our options for electronic payment and direct deposit of refunds.
