In honor of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Community Center Awareness Day, which occurs on September 15th, here is a little information about EIU's very own LGBTQA Resource Center!
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Ally (LGBTQA) Resource Center of Eastern Illinois University strives to support an open, welcoming, and collaborative campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and friends. Aiming to advance our university's mission of being committed to diversity and inclusion, the LGBTQA Resource Center brings together campus, community, and national resources for all LGBTQA individuals seeking advice, information, or guidance.
There are several resources on campus that the Center would like you to be aware of. These resources include: EIU Pride, the LGBTQA Advisory Committee, which works in conjunction with several departments and offices on campus, the Safe Zone Project, several LGBTQA-related small groups, an LGBTQA WebCenter, Bulletin Boards To Go, as well as various books, periodicals, magazines, movies, and pamphlets available for check-out in the Resource Center.
Starting Fall 2014, the Resource Center hours of operation will be from 1-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. One-on-one appointments may also be made Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-Noon. The LGBTQA Resource Center is located in Room 203 in the Cultural Center (across from Old Main).
