The Daily Eastern News, is student-run news media organization that covers the campus and the community at Eastern with students, staff, faculty and local residents as its audience.
The staff publishes news daily across multiple digital platforms during the entire year. A color, print edition of the DEN is published weekly through the fall and spring semesters. DailyEasternNews.com was named the state’s top news website for 2022.
Students run the newspaper – planning, reporting, editing, photographing, designing and making all news choices. A faculty of experienced journalists advise and support these student-journalists in their efforts. If you are interested in participating, contact director Tim Drachlis at tcdrachlis@eiu.edu . WEIU-TV and -FM Journalism students can receive a strong broadcast journalism experience through active work for News Watch newscasts and various sports and public affairs programs produced by the Radio and TV Center. Students get hands-on experience working in the studios and labs of WEIU-TV.
