The Testing Accommodation Center (TAC) in Student Disability Services is newly opened for the spring 2020 semester. We will be posting information, policies and procedures here as we develop them. Both the TAC and the submission forms are currently "works in progress," meaning they will be changing until we solidify the workflow for the center. We thank you for your patience while we develop the system. Questions may be directed to our office at 581-6583 or by email to email@example.com.
(Hours subject to change)
8:15-12:00 and 1:00-4:00
TAC requires 48 business hours notice to schedule the exam.
We will try to schedule the student during the classroom test time, however, that will not always be possible. If it isn’t possible, we will then offer them 2 days (same day as classroom exam and the day after) for them to schedule their appointment. We will contact you if the student does not respond to our emails or if they cannot schedule within the specified days.
If you are scheduling multiple students for the same class, please upload the exam document with each student.
If you have difficulty uploading a document, please call or email us and we’ll work with you to get the document to us.
We have scantrons in our office. Instructors do not need to send these to us.
Combine the answer sheet: Testing and Evaluation will hold your class scantrons until the alternate exam is completed and combine it with the rest of the class before it is graded. Instructors do have the option to not have the rest of the class’s exams held back. TAC will deliver the alternate exam scantron to Testing and Evaluation.
Please put the amount of time that you give the whole class. We will look at the student’s accommodations and calculate any extended time that is required.
As we wrap up the first month with the Testing Accommodation Center (TAC), we wanted to thank you all for your patience, collaboration, and overall well wishes! We would also like to remind you to please read the options on the TAC form thoroughly. We are a small department and as testing picks up, it will be more and more difficult to keep students waiting while we try to call for clarification on things. There are things that need noted, such as use of calculator. If you do not mark that as an option, and the student does not have that as an accommodation, we will not allow it.
Thank you again for all you do and for your patience as we work out any kinks with TAC.
Student Disability Services is now accepting faculty requests for our testing center for students with test accommodations. If a student in your class has talked to you about a testing accommodation and given you a letter from our office, you may want to ask us to proctor exams and provide testing accommodations. You may continue to do this yourself as well. Please realize this is a brand new system and we ask that you be patient with us as we work through any glitches that may arise. Faculty requests can be submitted using this link https://www.eiu.edu/apps/disability-services and on the SDS website https://www.eiu.edu/disability/.
Questions may be directed to our office at 581-6583.
