PRACTICUM/INTERNSHIP INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE REQUIREMENT

In order to keep up with CACREP Accreditation requirements, we are now requiring all Practicum/Internship students to obtain Individual Professional Liability Insurance.

Here are a few options you available to you:

1. Obtain Individual Professional Liability Insurance and send us documentation showing you are covered;

2. You can join Illinois Counseling Association (ICA) as a student and gain access to Professional Liability Insurance through CPH insurance through their site. (Information is below regarding cost breakdown)

 3. Use CPH & Associates: Here is the information they sent not through ICA: All of the student policies are a 1,000,000 each occurrence / 5,000,000 aggregate coverage and cost $24 for the year.

When they are signing up for coverage, they will need to choose the following:

Select your Area of Practice or Study:  Associates/Provisional & Students  and  Select your Occupation: Student- Mental Health This can be done through their website under the allied and mental health individual malpractice insurance section. 

Please have documentation submitted to the office by the start of your Practicum/Internship.

This is a part of the Manual Agreement you complete each semester, so please maintain a digital copy in your personal files for that purpose.
