When will the 2025 Interview Day be held?
The 2025 Interview Day will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 for those who are
invited to interview. This interview is mandatory to be considered for admission.
Do you admit students in the spring?
No. We admit students in the fall (August) only. The program is cohort based. This
means students take the same classes and proceed through the program together. On
occasion, a student may begin on a part time basis with approval from the chair.
Is the GRE required?
No.
Can I apply if I have a bachelor’s degree in a different field?
Yes. In many cases, you can still apply even if your bachelor’s degree is in a different
field. Our review process is comprehensive and considers letters of reference, interview
performance, and previous experience.
What is the GPA requirement?
The GPA requirement for full admission without conditions is 2.75. Students below
2.75 may be admitted conditionally and are not eligible for scholarships or assistantships.
If the student maintains a 3.0 GPA, they can move to full admission.
How much does tuition cost for graduate school?
For 2024-2025:
Illinois Residents: $23,668.84
Non Illinois Residents (Domestic and International): $34,271.74
How much does parking cost?
A parking permit for the full year is $110 or $55 per semester.

Can I apply for the spring semester?
No. The program is cohort based and begins every fall. Students take the same classes
together through completion of the program. Transfer credits may be approved on a
case by case basis.
Can I apply if I have a bachelor’s degree in a different field?
Yes, in many cases you may still apply.
Are there any internship or practicum opportunities to provide hands on experience?
Yes. Students complete 1,000 hours of clinical experience prior to graduating in schools,
colleges, community mental health facilities, and private practice settings.
Can I pursue this program on a part time basis?
The cohort begins in the fall semester each year.
Do you offer networking or professional development opportunities for students?
Yes. Opportunities include conferences, workshops, and partnerships with professional
organizations.
As an international student, what are my chances of being admitted to the program?
Admission decisions are based on program requirements, faculty interviews, and committee
review of application materials.
What assistantship and funding opportunities are available?
International students may apply for most assistantships. Assistantships include a
tuition waiver and monthly stipend. Opportunities are coordinated through the Graduate School.
