I am the first person most people deal with when they come into or call the department. I assist them with issues or direct them to the correct person to assist them.  I have numerous years of effective leadership and managerial organizaional and professional skills.  I have an understanding of state university policies and regulations both negotiated and non-negotiated.  I maintain 9 different department budgets.  I have 11 faculty members that I assist in many ways.  I love my job.  I have a wonderful group of people that I work with, not to mention the students.  They are my work family.  In addition to budgets, I create and compile reports that are used by the department.  I help maintain a working relationship with AEJMC, CMA, IHSA, IJEA, ICCJA, IPF and MPI.  I supervise 5-8 student employees.  I am responsible for entering the course schedule into the EIU Banner system.  I am responsible for maintaining confidential student, alumni and faculty files for the department.  I maintain a database of over 1500 journalism and student publications alumni and recently began adding employment and email information for all of our Alum's into that database.  I am the assistant director of the IPF/EIU Summer Journalism Workshop for High School Students.  Previous to Journalism I worked in the Beneift Services Office in Human Resources.  I worked with Group Insurance and Retirement issues for all of the University employees.
