Student Success Center Laptop Program
EIU has a limited number of used Dell laptops that students can request for free. These laptops were previously loaned through Booth Library and are now decommissioned (no longer in the library’s loan program).
You can request a laptop if you are:
- a currently enrolled EIU student, and
- you don’t have reliable access to a working laptop for school.
Because we have a limited supply, laptops are given out based on need and availability.
We may prioritize students who do not have a working laptop right now,
are experiencing financial hardship, and/or need a laptop soon for classes (online
work, major requirements, placements, etc.).
Submitting this form does not guarantee a laptop, but it does make sure your request is reviewed fairly.
Requests are reviewed as laptops are available.
You will get an update through your EIU email (approved, waitlisted, or next steps).
To help as many students as possible, we typically provide one laptop per student.
The laptop is used, so it may have normal wear. Specs may vary from one device to another.
A charger will be included if available.
These laptops are meant to support your schoolwork (classes, research, email, and required learning tools). Please take reasonable care of the device. The laptop becomes yours once you receive it.
The information you share is only used to review your request and contact you about next steps.
