The School Psychology Program is pleased to offer graduate assistantships to competitive applicants. Graduate assistantship offers are made during the spring semester along with offers of admission to the School Psychology Program.

b) QUALIFICATIONS: Students accepted into the School Psychology Program are eligible for a GA within the Psychology Department.
c) TIMELINE: Graduate students interested in a GA should complete the GA application as part of their application to the School Psychology Program (applications are due Jan 1). GA offers are made during the spring semester (approx. by the end of February).
Approximately 70-100% of our first-year students receive a GA within the psychology department. GAs are assigned to faculty in the psychology department (assignments are made in August).
Psychology Faculty GA: GA tasks include assisting with undergraduate teaching/grading or faculty research.
Clinic GA: A GA is also assigned to the academic intervention clinic (AIC) and schedules clients, communicates with families, manages paperwork, and assists student clinicians.
*First-year GA offers are made with offers of admission. Priority is given to competitive applicants.
**GA offers include a monthly stipend (approx. $1100/month) and a full tuition wavier (does not cover university fees) for 18 hours of work/week. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain eligible for a GA.

Approximately 50-100% of our second-year students receive a GA, either within the psychology department (IQ GA), in an outside department on campus, or at South-Eastern Special Education (SESE) Co-op.
IQ GA: The IQ GA is a teaching assistant position. GA tasks include assisting faculty who teach the IQ assessment class to clinical students (fall semester) and faculty who teach the IQ assessment class to school psychology students (spring semester). Priority is given to a first-year school psychology student who excels in the IQ assessment class.
SESE: SESE is a special external GA only offered to graduate students in the school psychology program. Students must obtain proficiency in their assessment classes to be eligible for this GA. Responsibilities include assisting with school psychology-related activities (i.e., classroom observations, benchmarking, progress monitoring, academic, social-emotional, and intellectual assessment).
Campus GA: Second-year students have successfully secured on campus GAs in the following departments: Accessibility & Accommodations, Academic Success Center, College of Education, Faculty Development and Innovation Center, Health Education Resource Center (HERC), and Illinois Higher Education Center (HERC).
*Second-year students should begin looking and interviewing for GAs in January of their first year.
