President's Award
Each year, the President’s Award is presented to a freshman student who was selected from the top twenty students of the fall semester, based on GPA, leadership, desire to serve and character.
This award is application by nomination only. The selection committee will process applications and offer the award via Academic Works.
The following criteria must be met:
- The award recipient shall be a Freshman in the Spring Semester who has a “straight A” GPA. (Those students with a GPA less than 4.0 may be considered on a decreasing basis if those with a 4.0 GPA is less than 20 people; the total number of candidates can be no more than 20.)
- The selection of the recipient is done only from those who have attained during the Spring Semester the maximum number of credit hours permitted for Freshmen and who have done all of their college study at EIU.
- The recipient must complete a formal application, including:
- Their interest in seeking the award
- Their desire and need for the award assistance
- Other information requested by the selection committee.
- The recipient must show qualities of leadership, a desire to serve, and a good moral character.
- Financial need IS a consideration.
This award will be selected and disbursed in the Fall semester. (Year 2 - Sophomore year)
