Specific courses may be selected in this area that will lead to the English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher Endorsement in Illinois, including a graduate level practicum. The following course areas are addressed: Linguistics; Theoretical Foundations of Teaching ESL; Assessment of the Bilingual Student; Methods and Materials for Teaching ESL; and Cross-cultural Studies for Teaching Limited-English-Proficient Students. Please note that the ESL endorsement will be entitled only for the grade span of the candidate's underlying PEL.
