Collaborate is a web-based video conferencing system allowing participants to engage in two-way audio, multi-point video, interactive whiteboard, application and desktop sharing, breakout rooms, polling and session recording.
Collaborate Ultra is the newest version of Blackboard Collaborate. Ultra opens directly in the browser and does not require a separate download, installation, or Java. The sleek and intuitive design gives a clutter-free experience that puts everything at your fingertips. It’s now easier than ever to lead virtual classes, office hours, tutoring and mentoring sessions, departmental meetings, professional development, and more. Using Collaborate Ultra, you will be able to have more collaborative, interactive learning experiences.
Instructors can easily create Collaborate Ultra sessions in the content area of a course in D2L Brightspace. A step-by-step guide is linked below along with other guides. To request a meeting room outside of D2L Brightspace, EIU faculty and staff can contact Julie Lockett at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The legacy version of Blackboard Collaborate will remain available through the online rooms tool in D2L Brightspace at this time. When the legacy version is eventually removed, announcements will be made in advance.
