Any paper or creative work that deals with Asia or Asian America and was produced in Spring 2020, Fall 2020 or Spring 2021 for an undergraduate or graduate course at EIU (or presented at a conference or exhibition) will be accepted. Those who submit essays written for a graduate course or a creative work must also provide the name and email of the faculty member under whom the work was undertaken. A paper that won an award for the 2019 or 2020 Asian Studies competition will not be considered. Winners will be recognized with certificates and monetary awards at an EIU conference on Asia on Thursday, April 15, 2021, and are required to present their works at the venue. The deadline for submission is 12 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021. The Asian Studies Program is accepting nominations for a leadership award for an EIU student whose contributions have made a positive impact on our campus to fulfill the mission of Asian studies: to promote education about Asia and take leadership in Asia-related programs and research. Please send your nomination to Robert Petersen, Coordinator of Asian Studies, at firstname.lastname@example.org by 12 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021. The letter of nomination must include the nominee's name, email, and a brief description of the nominee’s contribution toward the aforementioned mission of Asian Studies during the current academic year. The award will be announced at the Asian Studies Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Asian Studies Program is not accepting applications for the study abroad scholarship.
