What we do
- Short and flexible non-credit courses for the community
While catering to the community’s learning goals, the Academy offers short, affordable courses. From art and culture to body and mind wellness, our course offerings are very practical, engaging, and relevant. For us, learning is the core goal, so there are no exams and no pressure, just meaningful learning that resonates with the learning interests of all ages for the EIU community and beyond.

Whether you are joining an interactive workshop or an expert-led lecture, our course is designed to foster ideas, creativity, and confidence. These courses are developed and facilitated by the University faculty, industry professionals, and community leaders.

BenefitsMembers of EIU Alumni Association gets an automatic access to all the benefits of Academy of lifelong learning along with the benefits provided through the membership of EIU Alumni Association
- Two (2) free course audits per semester through the Academy of Lifelong Learning
- Access to membership for the university recreation center, subject to university policies and availability
- Parking passes provided prior to Academy events to improve accessibility and convenience for participants
- All Academy members will be able to avail different travel programs facilitated by the EIU Alumni Association
- Academy members will be able to avail discounted prices to difference rental and other services provided by our partners.
- All members will receive a copy of the magazine published by the alumni association twice a year
Academy Pass
As a valued benefit of membership, Academy of Lifelong Learning members can audit up to two EIU academic courses each semester through the Academy Pass Program. Auditing allows members to participate in university classes purely for the joy of learning without earning academic credit, receiving grades, or taking exams. It is an excellent opportunity to explore new subjects, engage with EIU faculty and students, and continue your lifelong learning journey in a relaxed, pressure-free environment. Course availability is limited, and enrollment is subject to seat availability and approval by the appropriate academic department chair.
