Principal Endorsement Program is designed for those educators wanting to pursue leadership roles as an assistant principal or principal.  After successful completion of 18 hours in the Master of Science in Education in Educational Leadership program, students may apply for admission into this program.  The Principal Endorsement Program requires, in addition to the master's program, successful completion of an additional nine (9) semester hours of coursework over the course of a year for a total of 42 semester hours.  The required coursework is as follows:

     EDL 5630 The Principalship (3 sem hrs)

     EDL 5891 Practicum in Educational Leadership (Summer) (2 sem hrs)

     EDL 5892 Practicum in Educational Leadership (Fall) (2 sem hrs)

     EDL 5893 Practicum in Educational Leadership (Spring) (2 sem hrs)

In addition to completion of all coursework, four years of full-time teaching experience and successful completion of the Illinois Principal Exam is required for certification.
