Making an Appointment

Who's Eligible for Services?

All enrolled undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at Eastern Illinois University are eligible to receive services at the Counseling Clinic. Services are free, voluntary, and confidential.

How Do I Make an Appointment?

Appointments may be arranged by calling 581-3413 or by dropping by the first floor of the Human Services Building. Our receptionist will be happy to assist you in making an appointment. Appointments can normally be scheduled within a week from your request but may take longer during the Counseling Clinic's busiest times. If it is assessed to be an emergency, you will be offered a same day appointment.

What Else Do I Need to Know?

With the exception of the Group Counseling program, the Counseling Clinic's appointments are set up on an hourly basis. Appointments are normally scheduled between 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students often meet with their counselors on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.

What should I expect when I come in?

During your first meeting, a counselor will ask you to describe your concerns and what you would like to gain from counseling. You will discuss what your needs are and the counselor will explore if your needs can be met by the Counseling Clinic's services. In many cases, the Counseling Clinic can provide enough services to meet your treatment needs. In the event the Counseling Clinic cannot meet your treatment needs, a counselor will assist you with a referral for services to meet your needs.
