We are looking forward to hosting GlobalFest Illinois! EIU first hosted it in March 2018, bringing over 200 students and teachers to our campus.
A day for students to celebrate world languages and cultures! GlobalFest Illinois enjoys a history of more than 25 years. Immerse yourself in a language! Explore a culture! Celebrate our vibrant community of world language students! Connect to our global society!
High school and middle school students, clubs and organizations, groups such as 4-H, Girl & Boy Scouts of America. All groups must pre-register and be accompanied by teachers or other adult chaperones.
World language immersion, cultural activities, games including trivia, and a Global Market. Students can choose between 30+ activities, which are different every year. Past sessions have included Norwegian for Beginners, German Mini-Story, Introduction to Urdu, Soccer in Swahili, Mayan Math, Origami Tutorials, and Georgian Dance!
Teachers, university faculty, performers, native speakers, and student organizations. GlobalFest Illinois is aligned with the State of Illinois World Language and Common Core Educational Standards for teachers and students. Teachers also earn PD credit for leading a session!
