EIU Writing Center

At the EIU Writing Center, we support undergraduate and graduate student writers from all majors at any stage of the writing process.

We will be online for the duration of spring 2021. Consultations will take place in Microsoft Teams, an application in Office 365 that's available to all EIU students.

Book your appointment through the link below. After clicking the link, pick an available appointment slot, answer a few questions to help a writing consultant prepare for your session, and then submit the form. You'll receive an email confirming your booking and providing additional details.

What Times Are Available? 

Our hours may vary somewhat from week to week, but typically, we'll have appointments available at these times: 

•                  Monday - Thursday:       9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
•                  Friday:                               9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
•                  Sunday:                             5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Appointments may be booked up to two weeks in advance.

What Should I Do after Making an Appointment? 

After your appointment has been confirmed, email your document and/or a copy of your writing assignment to writingcenter@eiu.edu. We are committed to helping writers at any stage of the process, from brainstorming ideas and vetting sources to putting the finishing touches on a final draft.

What Device Should I Use to Join the Meeting?

We recommend that you join from a computer. If you plan to use a phone or tablet, you will need to download the Teams app on your device in advance of your appointment.
