Raising of the MLK Flag: Join us on Monday, January 11th in the South Quad at 3:30pm as we raise the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr flag for the very first time! This will be a great way to come together, while socially distant, to recognize and reflect on the impact Dr. King had on the world, and our country.
Living Room Conversations: Join us for our first Living Room Conversation of the new year. As part of our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr programming this month our conversation will focus on understanding the divide between Americans and how do we as individuals help people come back together today . Cinema and Conversation: This is a great way to Netflix and Fill….your brain with new information! From the comfort and safety of your living space you will watch a movie and then we will come together to have a conversation to look critically at the themes of race and how those same issues apply today. This month, as part of our Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. programming we will be watching the movie "I Am Not Your Negro". Join us to talk about the themes of this film on Tuesday, January 26th at 7pm. Activate your Inner Activist Conference: Brand new this year we are going to have a virtual conference to come together, learn about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his impact and legacy AND learn about ways that we can make our community a brighter and better place for ALL of us. We will have an opening and closing sessions, and also two breakout sessions. Topics for the breakout sessions will include: The intersection of religion and activism; The danger of white feminism; The future of climate change; A history of activism in sports; and more!
