Coordinated Program option
-
- The MSND: CP program is fully accredited by ACEND as a Coordinated Program….[insert
standard statement]
- The MSND:CP is a primarily a face-to-face , residential program, with clinical placements
at one of our 8 approved clinical partners, or the available option of student -identified
clinical placement. If you are interested in completing your clinical placement at
a site other than one of our regional partners, please consult Dietetics Program Coordinator
Dr. Casey Strawser for more information. It is important to consult Dr. Strawser
as early as possible, as there may be several layers of approval necessary if EIU
does not already have an institutional affiliation with your desired clinical site.
- There are two pathways for admission to the MSND:CP
- Graduate Student Admission Process
- Students must have an earned bachelor’s degree.
- Students with degrees from DPD-accredited undergraduate programs are eligible for
admission as long as they meet all other graduate school admission standards.
- Students who do NOT have a DPD verification statement may still be admitted, so long
as they have taken the required science courses. For more information, please contact
Dr. Casey Strawser, Dietetics Program Coordinator.
- All applicants will be evaluated utilizing a wholistic application review process.
Depending upon the number of applicants in a given year, it is possible that not all
qualified applicants will be offered a spot in the program.
- Beginning with the Spring 2025 match cycle for Fall 2025 admission, students who earned
their undergraduate degree from a school other than EIU, and who are not currently
enrolled at EIU, must participate in the DICAS match process.
- All admission decisions will be made as per the ACEND approved decision deadlines
(currently March 15 for Fall admission).

- 3+2 Program Admission
- Current undergraduates enrolled in the BS Nutrition program may apply to the 3+2 Program
in Dietetics in Spring of their junior year.
- No DICAS match is required of EIU BS Nutrition students applying to the MSND:CP.
- Students who are admitted to the 3+2 Program in Dietetics will take an alternative
hybrid course of study during their 4th year which will allow them to complete 18
hours of graduate courses and 6 hours of undergraduate courses, and count ALL of the
graduate hours toward both their BS Nutrition degree and their MS Nutrition & Dietetics:
Coordinated Program option degree.
- Students in the 3+2 Program in Dietetics are able to complete ALL degree requirements
for BOTH degrees in under 5 academic years.
