The MS in Human Services is an applied graduate program that focuses on teaching, experiential learning, research, and theoretical application to improve our diverse, global society.
The Department of Human Services prepares students to empower individuals across the lifespan, strengthen families, promote community prosperity, and advocate for intersectional social justice in our globally diverse society through high-impact experiential learning and innovative research and scholarship.
Graduate Alumni Jennifer Cannon used her capstone experience to explore organ donation in the African American community.
Students both on and off-campus present their research/creative activity at professional conferences, participate in service learning, and serve as leaders on campus and in their communities.
The program is available in a traditional face-to-face format, completely online, or as a hybrid. Students have the flexibility to decide which format best meets their needs. The online degree program is a good fit for working professionals. Course content is immediately applicable to a classroom or human services agency, and faculty make online degree candidates feel part of a cohesive group, facilitating meaningful engagement.
Student success is important at EIU. The university offers multiple programs that support students both inside and outside of the classroom. Click here for some resources available to students.
