EIU Educator Preparation

ISBE Educator License
Information System (ELIS)

All candidates in initial educator preparation programs (teaching, school counseling, school psychology, and speech-language pathology) are required to establish an Illinois State Board of Education Educator License Information System account when beginning their preparation programs.

At EIU, teacher education candidates establish this account during their Admission to Teacher Education meeting; school counseling, school psychology, and speech-language pathology candidates do so during their first semester of the program and should check with their program coordinator for directions on doing this.

The ELIS system is used by ISBE for the purposes of educator licensure, including the tracking of academic and testing requirements for initial licensure and the documentation of continuing education activities requirement for periodic license renewal.

The ISBE ELIS system may be accessed here.
