| About the Program |
| The MA in Gerontology program is easily accessible to students who are employed full-time or part-time. Core courses and many electives are held late afternoons and evenings, with some courses being offered in a weekend format. |
Significant Program Achievements |
- Students have graduated from the program and used their degrees in the field of gerontology or as a stepping-stone to Ph.D. programs or various other careers.
- Graduate students have attended professional meetings and conferences.
- Graduate students have successfully completed their internships, many of which have resulted in job opportunities and offers.
- An increase number of graduate students in the program have written master's theses.
- Many of our students have been invited presenters and/or consultants for professional groups and university classes.
- Our program provides an informational booklet to our graduate students called the "Passport to a Master's in Gerontology." The "passport" outlines the program, and provides detailed information regarding deadlines, forms to be completed, comprehensive exams, and orals.
- Our program has been involved in providing informational workshops related to aging.
- Gerontology faculty have published in professional journals, as well as attended and/or presented at gerontological conferences.
- For the past two years our program has been granted approval and funding to plan and implement an intergenerational Elderhostel. The summer, week-long program for grandparents and their grandchildren, has been met with much enthusiasm and success.
- Each year our graduate students participate in Graduate Student Exposition week on campus, which provides the opportunity to highlight research in the area of gerontology.
